Barbara Jean Edwards also known as “Barb” was born August 22, 1957, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Barbara was born to the late Lucille Kendricks-Edwards & Robert Edwards. Lucille was preceded in death
by Barbara at only 11 months old, she was then raised by her aunt Louise Ruffin. Barbara was raised on
Haifley Pl SE on the southeast side of Grand Rapids and attended Ottawa Hills High School
She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, going to the casino and scratch-offs. Barbara also
loved watching her TV and smoking her cigarettes. She is well known for her jokes, outspokenness,
loyalty, friendliness, jazziness, and style that included her ripped jeans, jean jackets, fancy eyelashes,
and hoops. Barbara joined her heavenly father and gained her wings in the early afternoon of January
12, 2022, at the age of 64.
Barbara is preceded in death by Lucille Edwards (mother), Robert Edwards (father), Louise Bonnett
(Aunt/Mother), Jack Bonnett (Uncle/Dad), John Bonnett (brother), Charles Edwards (brother), Fanny
Nelson (sister), BigC Friend (Son), Pamela Kendricks (niece), and Robert Lee Walls (nephew). Barb is
survived by her three children Shanika, Marlin (Mia), and Shamari. Her two brothers Charles and Jackie
(Luevenia) Bonnett. Her ten grandchildren: DaMarcus, Janessa, Vanessa, Marlonte, Olivia, Carnesha,
Heaven, Marlin, A’alyric, and King Marlin. Along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and
nephews.
