Catherine Ann Lewis

Our beloved Catherine Ann Lewis went to be with our Lord and Savior on November 17,
2022, in San Antonio, TX. Catherine was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 23, 1948, to
Phillip and Audrey (Collier) Lewis. She was a lifelong Grand Rapidan. At the time of her
passing on November 17 she was 74 years of age.
Catherine was preceded in death by her mother and father, Audrey and Phillip, as well as
her brothers Phillip Lewis Jr. and Richard Lewis. Her only surviving sibling is Belinda Lewis.
Catherine leaves two sons Rodney (Tracy) Lewis and Charles (Deyanna) Mondy, II. She has
three grandchildren whom she cherished, Kennedy Lewis, Sania Mondy and Charles Mondy,

Catherine grew up on the southeast side of Grand Rapids. Throughout her K-12
educational journey, she attended the Grand Rapids Public Schools. She was a 1966 graduate of
Ottawa Hills High School. Upon graduating from Ottawa Hills, Catherine enrolled at Grand
Rapids Junior College. After attending GRJC, she entered the workforce beginning her career
with the Grand Rapids Public School, where she retired after a 35 plus year career, assisting and
supporting students. Catherine enjoyed every moment engaging with all students and ensuring
they excelled and had the skill sets needed to be successful in life. Additionally, she spent many
years working at Witmark Department Store as a jewelry consultant.
Catherine enjoyed every opportunity she had following the extracurricular activities of
her sons, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She would attend every football, basketball, and
volleyball game, as well as dance competitions. Additionally, she enjoyed traveling to San
Antonio, TX to visit Sania and Charles via the Amtrack or taking a long car ride to pick up
Kennedy at the end of the semester at Alabama A&M University. Her family was her LIFE.
She always shared positive stories about someone in her family to anyone she would meet.
She always exuded a positive spirit. She will be missed by her family, friends, and many
extended family members. Today, her spirt resides in a better place.
