Denice Wakefield Obituary

A Sojourner's Steps
On Thursday July 8, 1965 in Saint Louis, Missouri a daughter was given to David Wakefield and Doris Veronica Keene; they named her Denice. Denice was a kind and beautiful soul and was a sheer delight to be in the company of.

The family moved from the Saint Louis area to Detroit, Michigan. There Denice received her secondary educational experience from Detroit Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Mackenzie High School's Class of 1984. Later in life Denice sought higher education and became a student of Grand Rapids Community College's Geographical Sciences Program as she was curious about the Earth's landscapes, people, places, and environments. Taking that course of study gave her keen insights into some of the major challenges that the planet Earth faces today, and she was always eager to converse about the conditions of the world. Denice was an avid traveler and took residency in several states throughout her life in such places as Atlanta, Georgia and Las Vegas, Nevada. Grand Rapids, Michigan would be her final Earthly destination and the place she would call home for many years.
In the early 2000's Denice joined in faith fellowship with Davidic Ministries, it was there under the Pastorate of Pastor Ragland that she heard the word of God, learned the oracles of Jesus Christ and accepted the role of repentance. Denice came to the fulness of understanding that though we don't all worship the same, but from a pure and repentant heart her worship was received by God! It is fair to say that Denice was a worshipper! Denice was helpful in all areas of ministry and had a true love and commitment to her leaders Pastor and Lady Ragland. Perhaps one of her most treasured efforts was when she bought her First Lady's outfit for the last church anniversary. Whatever Denice hands found to do she done it unto the goodness of the Lord! Her presence and tenacity will be sorely missed.
On Thursday February 18, 2021 the Lord retired the earthly vessel of Sister Denice. She was welcomed into her eternal residence by her beloved parents, David Wakefield and Doris Keene, and her brother David Wakefield Jr.. She leaves on this side of Heaven to continue in her legacy her loving and dutiful sons; John, Twovash, Tonsha, Theo, and Duwan Wakefield, the apple of her eye, granddaughter A'mirah; one brother Fredrick Wakefield; one sister Demetress Zachary, one brother-in-love Jason Zachary; two special nieces Roslyn and Brianna Zachary; one step son, Eddie Grubbs, two step daughters Brenda Grubbs and Stephanie Gillens, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rest well Sojourner we will meet you on the other side!
2 Timothy 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him.
