In Loving Memory of Dennis Dontrell Pettis
Dennis Dontrell Pettis was born on October 8, 1990, to Theresa Pettis and Dennis Mons. He departed this life on June 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Dennis spent much of his childhood in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he created lifelong friendships and memories that would stay with him throughout his life. He attended Central High School and later earned his GED, an accomplishment he was proud of.
Family was at the center of Dennis' life. He treasured the time he spent with his loved ones and never missed an opportunity to be surrounded by family and friends. Whether he was fishing, walking the trails, or simply enjoying the outdoors, Dennis found joy in life's simple pleasures.
Dennis especially loved cooking on the grill. If you asked him, he would proudly tell you that he was a master on the grill. Preparing meals for family and friends brought him happiness, and sharing food was one of the many ways he showed his love for those around him.
Above all, Dennis loved being a father. His son, Lorenzo, was his greatest pride and joy. The love he had for his son was undeniable, and the bond they shared will forever remain a treasured part of his legacy.
Dennis was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Arthur Pettis and Susie Pettis, Bernice Woods and James Woods; his brother, Damien Webster; his aunt, Angela "Angie" Pettis; and his grandfather, Dwight Pettis Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Theresa Pettis; his father, Dennis Mons; his beloved son, Lorenzo Pettis; his grandmother, Carol Pettis; his siblings, Nyeisha Jones, Bernay Phillips, and Jaylen Fox; his favorite cousins, Shontoya Jenkins, Frederick Osby, and Xavier Smith; his aunts, Nicole Henry and Ericka Harris; his uncles, Dwayne Pettis and Dwight Pettis Jr.; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.
Dennis will be remembered for his love of family, his generous spirit, his passion for fishing, his enjoyment of nature, and the countless memories he created with those he loved. Though he will be deeply missed, his love and legacy will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
Forever Loved. Forever Missed. Forever Remembered.
