Missionary Dorothy Mae Williams, age 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on, Thursday February 02, 2023. Missionary Williams was born on March 3, 1929 to Willie Hall and Beatrice Hobson-Hall in Memphis, TN. She accepted Christ at an early age. Growing up, she was an advocate for education and was a school teacher in her early adult years in Memphis, TN. She relocated to Grand Rapids, MI and was a member of New Faith Temple COGIC under the leadership of Supt. Deidric Tupper, Pastor before joining New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her son in law, Pastor Roy Lee Hampton. Missionary Williams served faithfully on the mother’s board for many years until she was called to her heavenly home. She met the love of her life; Andrew Williams, who preceded her in death on April 9, 2012. She enjoyed baking, sewing, singing, visiting the sick, and most importantly, spending time with her family. Missionary Williams was truly an epitome of a virtuous woman of God, and let her light shine among her family, friends, church and community. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, friend, caregiver, and a servant of the Lord. Missionary Williams leaves to cherish in memories her children: Cleveland (Mosella aka Red) Baskin, Eathel (Willie C.) Trice, Dorothy Brooks, Josephine (Calvin) Young, Sarah (Roy) Hampton, Charlene (John) Vick, Lonnie Ray, Laura Cortez all of Grand Rapids, MI and Louise Jackson of Toledo, OH; (161) grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Missionary Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Beatrice Hobson-Hall, husband Andrew Williams, siblings, James Hall, Sammy Hall and Charles Edward Hall; 1 great-grandchild, Jessica Applewhite. A VISITATION for Missionary Williams will be held from 1 PM-5 PM Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Brown’s Funeral Home Ltd, 627 Jefferson St S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49503. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday February 11, 2023 and FAMILY HOUR will be held from 11 AM-12 PM at New Jerusalem Baptist Church ,1132 Cass Ave S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49503 with Pastor Roy Lee Hampton., officiating. BURIAL will be at Ft Custer National Cemetery.
