Edith Karene Jones was born May 13th, 1941 in Byron Center, Michigan to Arthur and Edith Jones. Born and raised on their family farm, Edith was the younger sister to Wesley Jones, Dr. David Jones, and Charlotte Jones.
After moving away from Bryon Center Edith attended Ottawa Hills High School. Edith was a dedicated member of First Community AME Church in Grand Rapids for many decades, where she served on the stewardess board. Edith was also a member of the Grand Chapter of Michigan; Eastern Star.
After 18 years of faithful service, Edith retired on March 12th, 1986 from the State of Michigan, The Michigan Veterans Facility.
After retirement, Edith spent time traveling, spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spending relaxing weekends at her family cabin in Idlewild, MI. Edith's most cherished hobby was Geneology.
Edith was a soft-spoken, gentle, selfless, kind-hearted woman who loved her family.
Edith passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 23rd, 2021 in her home surrounded by family.
Edith is preceded in death by her parents, brother Wesley Jones, sister Charlotte Jones, daughter Eppie Jones, and great-granddaughter Aniya Serenity Gomez. She is survived by her brother; Dr. David Jones MD MPH, children; Jonnetta Moore, David (Virginia) Moore, John (Tammy) Moore, Frederick (Rita) Moore, and Edith Jerene Moore, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, close dear friends Mylice Hitchcock, Barbara Jamison and Roberta Baker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
