Remembering His Life His Story Mr. Franklin House departed this earthly realm on February 26, 2025. He was born on February 15, 1962, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was the son of the late Lincoln and Irma Jene House.
His father affectionately gave him the nickname "Spunky" due to his energetic spirit. Franklin received his education through the Grand Rapids Public Schools system, earning his diploma from Grand Rapids Mid-City. He continued his studies at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC).
Franklin met and married the love of his life, Carolyn (Sims), and together they were blessed with two children: at a very early age came a son, Antoine and later a daughter, Brandy Sims. Providing for his family Franklin dedicated many years of service to Center Manufacturing before retiring.
Franklin was an avid football fan, Franklin played football for the city and had a passion for painting, BBQing, and handyman work—if something needed to be done, he was always the one to call. A man of deep faith, Franklin loved sharing the Word of God with everyone he encountered.
He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized under the late Pastor C. H. Hudson Sr. at New Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church. He served faithfully as a member of the Usher Board, the Male Chorus, and the choir. When the church name changed to God with Us Missionary Baptist Church, Franklin continued his devotion, serving under Pastor Lynn Mitchell and maintaining the house of God. He taught Junior Church, was a Deacon and a productive citizen of Grand Rapids, Michigan exemplifying his commitment to both his faith and his community. His life was a testament to his role as a true Servant of God.
Franklin was preceded in death by his parents Lincoln and Irma Jene House, three sisters, Mary Ann House, Glorise Ann House, Serita Jane House and one brother Lincoln House Jr. and brother-in-law Kevin Sims.
