Jacqueline Griffin Obituary

Ms. Jacqueline Annette Griffin was born on October 23, 1970, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Ms. Thelma “Poochie” Griffin and Mr. Willie Joe Vance, Sr. After a courageous and faithful battle with cancer, Jackie, as she was affectionately known, received her heavenly wings on March 3, 2026. She now rests in the loving arms of the Lord and reunites with those who preceded her in death: her maternal grandmother Helen, her great-grandmother Sennie Lakes, and her great-grandfather Leroy Young, Sr.

Jackie was educated in the Grand Rapids Public School District. She attended several schools including Vandenberg Elementary and Eastern Elementary before graduating from Creston High School. Jackie shared a very special bond with her sister and best friend, LaShell. Their love for each other was undeniable, and they spent so much time together that they eventually moved into the same apartment complex. Jackie truly cherished family and had a warm spirit that spread joy and laughter wherever she went.

Throughout her life, Jackie worked for several manufacturing companies in Grand Rapids and the surrounding areas. During her orientation at Hope Network, she met the love of her life, Mr. Jeffrey Anderson. Jeff and Jackie shared over 20 years together. He was her rock, her strength, and her faithful companion, standing by her side throughout her courageous fight. After leaving Hope Network, Jackie began a career at Praxis, where she worked alongside her longtime best friend, Collette McIntosh, for over 10 years until her medical retirement.

Jackie loved the Lord and accepted Christ as her Savior. She embraced the teachings of her uncle, Reverend Leroy Young, Jr., and became a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Later, after worshiping with her mother on several occasions, she began attending Brown Hutcherson Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Joe Jones. Even in the midst of her battle, Jackie could be found during morning worship clapping her hands and praising God. Her faith never wavered, and she continued to fellowship there until the Lord called her home in victory.

Jackie leaves to cherish her loving memory her mother, Thelma Griffin; father, Willie Joe Vance, Sr.; her fiancé, Jeffrey Anderson; her siblings, LaShell Houston (Amen), Donna Luckett, Regina Vance, Valeda Vance, and Willie Joe Vance, Jr.; her goddaughter, Yah’mhyah Campbell; her stepdaughter, Brittney Hayes; many beloved nieces and nephews including Terry Griffin, Ayanna Luckett, Joelle Luckett, Jaielle Luckett-Blackmon, Khylon Allen, and Danielle Griffin; and her devoted best friend, Collette McIntosh, along with a host of extended family and friends.

Jackie will forever remain in our hearts. Her strength, courage, and unwavering faith during her battle were an inspiration to all who knew her. Though we will miss her dearly, we rejoice knowing she is now at peace.

We love you, Jackie, but God loved you best. Continue to praise Him with the angels.
