James Bell Obituary

(Jimi) James Alfred Bell, Jr 67 of Grand Rapids, MI passed away on February 27, 2021. Jimi was born on August 8, 1953 in Port Huron, Michigan. During his teen years his family moved to Grand Rapids. There he attended Creston High School.  Always being adventurous Jimi loved walking and talking with all types of people.  He was employed as a cook and really enjoyed cooking.  Jimi often bragged on his cooking skills and could back it up.  Jimi was laid back and never made a fuss about anything. This was true even as he battled cancer.

You could find him sitting on the stoop, drinking coffee, smoking a cigarette and shooting the breeze with friends, kids, or anyone passing by.

Jim’s true passion was music, all genres.  His favorite by far was Jimi Hendrix. If Hendrix made it Jimi played it.

Jimi leaves to cherish his memory sisters: Carolyn Ann Bell, Jay Bell-Mills (Michael) of Grand Rapids, Veleria Bell of CA, brothers, John A. Bell and James T. Carlton of Grand Rapids, David Bell of Daphne, AL, Herman Bell of CA, and Jonathan Bell of CT. Loving Aunts: Elizabeth Burrell of Port Huron, Martha Lovett of Grand Rapids and Uncle Johnnie Taylor (Otis) of Birmingham, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Our brother will be missed.

Jimi was preceded in death by his parents Bertha Z. Bell and James A. Bell, SR.

The Bell Family would like to thank you for all your expressions of kindness and love.
