Kevin Johnson Obituary

Brother Kevin William Johnson

March 19, 1957 – May 31, 2025

Brother Kevin Johnson was born on March 19, 1957, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was the youngest of five siblings. Kevin attended school in Grand Rapids and graduated from Creston High School in 1975.

In 2002, Kevin relocated to California, where he began attending The Church at Vallejo. There, he received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and became a devoted member, joyfully serving on the security and usher team. It brought great joy to see Brother Kevin worshipping and working diligently in his service to the Lord.

In 2010, while serving at The Church at Vallejo, Kevin met Jackie Blanton, who became the love of his life. The two were united in holy matrimony on April 8, 2011. Kevin affectionately referred to her as “My Queen.”

After moving to California, Kevin found employment with Alameda County Services. His dedication and professionalism led him to a position with the State of California, where he worked faithfully until retiring in 2019.

Following retirement, Brother Kevin and Sister Jackie moved to Ohio and became active members of The Church at Beavercreek. He continued his ministry in security and ushering, serving the Lord and the people of God with joy and commitment.

Brother Kevin was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth R. Johnson, father Richmond Jones, brother Michael B. Johnson, sister Karen D. Johnson, and brothers Richmond Jr. and Eric Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His devoted wife, Jacqueline (Jackie) Johnson, His children: Karen, Ashley, Tanisha, Alicia, and Kevin; His sisters: Theresa O. Johnson, Laura B. (Nathaniel) Moody and brothers Fenton (Angie), Bobby, Bernice (Vince) Jones, Jay Whitley, and sisters Larna Chevis, and Michelle James; his sister-in-law: Penelope Jones; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; His bonus sons: Lee, Andrae, and Marcus Blanton; a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and his loving church family.

Brother Kevin lived a life of faith and service. His legacy is best captured in Revelation 14:13 (KJV): "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them."
