Letitia Foster, affectionately known as "Tish," was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to her parents, Ethel Foster and Albert Jackson.
Tish loved the Lord, a devoted member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, she followed the guidance of the late Pastor Charlie Jones and cherished her faith.
Tish had a passion for spending time with her family and friends, enjoying cookouts, playing cards, and creating joyful memories. She was an excellent cook, a skill she learned from her mother.
She attended Grand Rapids Public Schools and graduated from South High School in 1967. During her time there, she was recognized for her classy sense of style and was actively involved in several school auxiliaries.
Following her graduation, Tish began her career as a Nurse Practitioner at the Veteran’s facility, where she dedicated 30 years of service. This role nurtured her natural inclination to care for others, especially her mother and children. In her mother’s later years, she became her primary caregiver. Tish’s house was famously known as “Big Mama’s House,” a welcoming space where she housed, fed, sheltered, and protected family and friends alike.
Letitia was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Foster and Albert Jackson, her sister Veronica Clay, her brothers Ricky Foster and Mike Foster, her uncle and aunt John and Sally Gibbons, and her lifelong friend buddy sister, Sandra “Chug” Gillespie.
On March 6, 2025, Tish departed this world, and her memories will be cherished by her son Mark Foster, her daughter Monique (Mike) Williams, bonus sons Mike Bell and Thomas Houston, grandchildren Makayla Mosley and Tiffany Jones, and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Robert Foster, David Foster, Arthur Randolph, and George Randolph, along with her sisters Cynthia (Steven) Webster, Nena Marie Brown, Tenia Marie (Donald) Partee, Mrs. Genise Reese, Ms. Carolyn Pruitt, and Cecelia (James) Hussey. Tish's very special friends Melinda Jones and Gilmore Welford will also miss her dearly.
Letitia will be remembered fondly by many for her vibrant personality, charm, and an extraordinary sense of humor that brought joy to those around her.
