Reginald Jerry Johnson Jr. 45 transitioned this earthy journey on January 30th 2020 in Grand Rapids, MI. “Reggie” or “Jr” as he was fondly called by close friends and family was born on June 20th 1974 to Reginald Sr. and Rosemary Johnson in Decatur GA. He was the eldest son and the fourth child out of seven. Reggie was educated in Covington, GA later finishing in Grand Rapids, MI where he met and married his high school sweetheart Lindsey Westerman. In that union they were blessed and raised three strong loving sons Reginald III (RJ), Jayden, and Derrick Johnson.
Reggie worked at PerCor Manufacturing as a Welder Fabricator where he worked for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, he loved to fish, go for hikes, grilling regardless of the weather as well going to the range. He was fond of pyrotechnics and was known to have the “streets lit “ in his neighborhood. Reggie was a family man, and this showed in the way he cared for his sons. He taught them self-sufficiency as well as family values such as honor, loyalty, and trustworthiness. They will remember him as being a man of his word. He leaves behind a rich legacy. One that anyone would be proud of as it is a portrait of his character, his heart, his love.
His three sons: Reginald Johnson III, Jayden Johnson, Derrick Johnson hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan. His father Reginald Johnson Sr. and his step-mother Pamela Roe-Johnson of Florida. His siblings and their spouses: Shana T, Johnson of Colorado, Carlotta M. Johnson-Polk (Kelly) of North Carolina, Octavia, L. Johnson of Atlanta, Ga., Timothy, O. Johnson (Teresa) of Rhode Island, Rosanna M. Gregory (Michael) of San Marcos, CA., Zorona J. Johnson (Eric) of Atlanta, Ga, Kayla M. Johnson (Zach) of Brooklyn, NY, and Derrick Weems of Atlanta, Ga.. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, 21 nieces & nephews, 2 great nieces, hosts of cousin and close friends joins in this bountiful harvest.
Reggie is preceded in death by his mother Rosemary Johnson, his nephew Anwar-Hasan Jamal, his niece Christina Covington, his great niece Marielle Covington, along with his grandparents Curtis and Cora Johnson, Annie Mae Parlor, and his favorite uncles Kenneth Johnson, Harrington “Harry” Smith and other family members.
