Robert Taylor Obituary

On Sunday December 20, 2020 Robert Earl Taylor Sr. quietly went home to be with the Lord. Robert was born on July 8, 1962 in Brownsville Tennessee to Elsie Taylor and the late Robert Lewis Coleman. His mom relocated to Grand Rapids MI where he and his siblings were raised.

Robert met his best friend and love of his life Michelle Bates on April 1, 1978. They later married on October 15, 1993. Robert graduated from Central High in 1980. He furthered his education at ITT Technical Institute where he earned his Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology in 1982. After graduation he gained employment at Holland American Wafer where he then spent 20+ years mastering his craft as a Machine Maintenance Technician. After the company was sold he was employed at Aspen Surgical as a Machine Maintenance Engineer/Purchaser where he worked several years and finally employed with Viant Medical as a Machine Maintenance Technician.

Robert was a hardworking, loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his wife “if you see one, you see the other”.  He loved grilling and chillin; listening to music (Funk) favorite band of all time being Parliament/Funkadelic . He loved The Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Robert Lewis Coleman of Brownsville Tenn.; two brothers Austin Lee Taylor and Eddie Taylor Sr.; one sister Mae Ida Taylor.

Cherishing his memories are devoted wife Michelle Bates Taylor, Mother Elsie Taylor; two sons Robert Taylor Jr. and Juell Taylor; one daughter Elizabeth (Scott) Dobbins; one granddaughter Imani Taylor; three grandsons Carlos Hardiman, Robert Taylor III and Elijah Dobbins; his four brothers Roy Houston, Vernon (Judy) Taylor, Everett (Kerri) Taylor and Willie (Sheila) Taylor; two sisters Mary Phillips and Jackie (Fredrick) Marshall; two special friends Bryan Reynolds and Bernard Thompson. He has a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He loved and cherished them all.  Robert was loved by many and will never be forgotten.   Our family would like to thank everyone for all their support, thoughts and kind words.
