Sister Tawanda LaShon Arterberry
Born in Time: August 21, 1974~Born into Eternity: January 4, 2022
It’s me Shawn! Welcome to the celebration of my life. I am so honored that you took time out
of your busy schedules to celebrate me on this glorious day! What a celebration this is going
to be because I am in the presence of Jesus; bless the name of the Lord. I was born August 21,
1974, in Greenwood, Mississippi to the late Mr. Woodrow Arterberry and Ms. Julia Bell
Groves. I was affectionately called (Shawn) by those who knew me, in my younger years, my
family relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan.
I was employed as a Greeter and Cashier at Walmart. I enjoyed greeting every person that
entered the store.
On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, angels encamped about me and guided me into the
everlasting presence of Jesus Christ! Hallelujah I am free; I got the victory!
I came into the fullness of Christ when I sought spiritual refuge at the New Life Church of
God in Christ, under the leadership of Pastor, Superintendent Robert and Lady Betty Dean.
There I received a true understanding of Jesus, his death; his burial and his resurrection.
Thank you so much to my Godly leaders whom I know love God and loved me. What an
inspiration you both were to me! To God be the glory for the many great things He's done!
Shawn was a very faithful member of the New Life Church of God in Christ. Shawn truly
loved God, the ministry, the members and her leaders. Although she had some health
challenges they didn’t stop her, when the doors of the church were open you could find her in
service. When you needed a word of encouragement some how she knew and you would
receive a phone call or a text. If you had the opportunity to talk to Tawanda she would have
had you laughing. Shawn truly loved people. One of the things she enjoyed doing was
going to her favorite restaurant Cracker Barrel. A funny fact about Shawn was she didn’t
mind asking you if she could drive your car. Laugh out Loud!
Shawn was preceded in death by her parents the Mr. Woodrow Arterberry and Ms. Julia
Bell Groves, her grandmother Minnie Lou Whitfield and her sister Casandra Groves.
Shawn leaves to celebrate her memories two brothers James and Isadore Groves, three
sisters Barbara Ann Wilkerson, Tina Hoskins (Curtis) and Deona Deeble (Christian). Her
Godmother Lady Betty Dean, Spiritual Grandmother Mother Jossie Williams, Nieces,
Nephews, her New Life Church family and a host of extended family and friends.
I beseech you brethren by the mercy of God, that if you don’t know God you’ll get to Know
Him.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in
Jesus will God bring with him. I Thessalonians 4:14
Be encouraged, keep the faith and I'll meet you on the other side.
