Thaddus Pratt, Sr, was born in Columbus, Mississippi to parents,

Elease, and Jab Chester Pratt on December 5, 1943. Thaddus who

was from Columbus, MS, met Ada Elliott from Starkville, MS on

April 19, 1965. He came to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1968 with

his wife and their two girls, Brenda & Diane Pratt.

Thaddus accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1969. He

was a faithful& long-standing member at Bethel SDA Church for

over 30 years. One thing about dad, he loved his church family.

He wore many hats in the church…Head Deacon for many years,

an Usher & a Senior Greeter. His love language was Acts of

Service and with that being said, he was an avid gardener, and a

lot of us have enjoyed the bene?ts of his gardening, he loved

doing for others, which was his way of showing love.

Thaddus was a great provider, and he loved his family. He would

defend us at any cost. If he felt your tone was wrong when talking

to him, he got with you in his own way. And the stories oh, the

stories, he could & would talk for hours about growing up in the

South; all the ?ghting he did. Let him tell it “nobody could mess

with him.” He was that guy! He could strike up a conversation

with anyone. He was our protector! On Monday, September 4,

2023, Thaddus Pratt, Sr passed away peacefully at home

surrounded by family just like he would have loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elease Pratt & Jab

Chester Pratt, stepbrother, Morris, his brothers, Johnnie Lee Kidd,

Arthur James Kidd, Robert Pratt, Sr, Louis Pratt & Bobby Lee Kidd,

his special friends, Robert Payne & Charles Washington, and his

special uncle, Uncle John.

Thaddus Pratt, Sr is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ada L. Pratt

and their four kids, Brenda Pratt, and her four kids, Brandon

(Marshay Pratt), Shaquille, Precious, (A’miyah & Cherish Pratt) &

Ebony, Diane Pratt (Tiara & Daniqua Pratt), Patricia A. Pratt, and

his only son, Thaddus Pratt, Jr.,(wife, Kalen Pratt) & his children,

Jamarri (Jhiyah)& Shamarri Key, twins), Kahliyah Pratt, Mikaylah

Pratt, Thaddus Pratt III, Raven Pratt (unborn child), Josiah Pratt,

Kayshius Pratt, Cartier Canaan Pratt & Kartiera Kataleya Pratt,

twins) and his honorary daughter, Vickie Pratt-Gray,(Samuel Gray)

and her son, Tavon Pratt.

He leaves to cherish his memories are 7 sisters, Emma Raby,

Louise Wallace, Betty (Floyd) Mathis, Mary Dean, Theodora Harris,

Floria (James) Bates, and Rosie (David) Jones and one brother,

Frank Pratt all of Grand Rapids, MI and special cousins, Mack

(Sarah) Chevis and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family

members, church family, and friends who will cherish his

memories and his love for service.
