Wanda Culp-Freeman but most knew her as “Jean,’’ was born to Sherman Culp and Mary Mcintosh-Culp
on January 13, 1956 in Wren, MS. She moved to Grand Rapids, MI. She graduated from Central High
School and attended Junior College before working for prudential insurance and later doing
maintenance for McDonald’s for years before retiring. Wanda confessed her life to God at a young age.
She attended Lamb of God Church in her youth and in her adult life she attended Bethel Pentecostal
until the passing of Bishop Abney.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Mary Mcintosh Culp and Sherman Culp and two aunts Ida
Anderson and Betty Jean Mcintosh.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Rickie Freeman Sr, two sons James Merriweather of
Grand Rapids, MI and Rickie Freeman Jr. of Louisville, KY. One daughter Shynequa (Drakkari) Williams of
Grand Rapids, MI. Three sisters Mary Culp of Grand Rapids, MI, Angela Culp and Jennifer Culp-O’Neil of
Tupelo, MS. Two brothers, Sherman Culp of Tupelo, MS and Dennis Culp of Kent, WA. Thirteen
grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A bonus daughter Rosalind Tompkins and five special
friends Kim Hodges, Peggy Walton, Sheron Porter-Jones, Cynthia Owens and Evalina Walton and a host
of family and friends.
