Wesley Jones Obituary

Fulton Arthur Wesley Jones was born on September 13, 1936 in Ottawa County, Michigan to
Arthur and Edith Jones. Born and raised on their family farm, Wesley was the older brother to
Dr. David Jones and sisters Charlotte Jones and Edith Karene Moore. He graduated from
Wayland High School in 1955.
Wesley was devoted to the Prince Hall Grand Lodge Masons starting in 1967. Brother Jones
masonic tenure spanned 54 years, continuously and served in the highest office of the masonic
fraternity in the State of Michigan, that of Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Most
Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan in the years 1983 –
1984. At the time of his passing, he was the most senior past Grand Master of Prince Hall
Masons in the State of Michigan. During Brother Jones masonic journey he traveled extensively
throughout the United States and had the honor and privilege to travel to Europe where he
visited the Grand Lodge of England, the body from which all recognized masonic Lodges
originate.
On January 9, 1988, he married the love of his life, Lynne Renee Williamson. Along with her
three children, this gave Wes and Lynne a wonderful, blended family of six children.
For many decades, he was a dedicated member of First Community AME Church in Grand
Rapids. He was a man of many talents and trades. Some of his notable accomplishments
include construction projects at Spectrum Health, GVSU and EPCOT Center at Walt Disney
World just to name a few. Over the span of several years, Wes and Lynne took each grandchild
on vacation to enjoy family time and appreciate his accomplishments at EPCOT.
After retirement, he and his family built their cabin from the ground up in Idlewild, MI which
was completed in 2003.
In 2008, Wes received the William Glenn Trailblazer Award at the Giants Awards banquet at
GRCC.
Wesley passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2021 after a brief illness. Wesley is survived
by his brother, Dr. David Jones, sister Edith Karene Moore, children William (Terri) Jones, Debra
Jones and Valinda Stokes, stepchildren Tommi Valentino, Lisa (Terry) Davenport and Brian
Williamson, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Wes is preceded in death by
